If, after a dental crown placement, you still feel a tinge of pain, it is probably because your tooth is not yet over the loss of its enamel. Warren dentist Fotolia_3843301_XS.jpg

Taking away enamel is something that cannot be helped. When I put on a new dental crown, I could easily remove every bit of the hard outer layer. Certainly a lot of it will have to go. There will be an increase in sensitivity to friction, pressure and temperature changes. This is the reason you feel that sharp tingling feeling after the new dental crown is installed. This should disappear within two days.

Maybe the size of the crown is all wrong in terms of height. This means that the dental technician has erred in producing the crown according to my measurements. I could do one of two things. Either I could grind down the dental crown to the right height, or inform the lab technician that he or she needs to do the job again.

The problems may also stem from a poorly shaped crown. The crown's hollow core could be a fraction over or under. Another problem could be the diameter. It may be to wide or narrow for the tooth root.

Fixing this depends on what the crown is made of. With a gold dental crown or a gold-porcelain hybrid, we are able to fix it quite quickly. Gold is a soft metal and we can easily knock it into different shapes. Hence, there is no problem. If we were to use porcelain dental crowns, it is another scenario altogether when it's time for the lab technicians to do the modifications.

Regardless, the key aspect of all of this is that we give you the best service possible and you have no regrets. The last thing we want is to have you go away and not feeling 100 percent, as well as looking 100 percent. It is important to remember that we are not running the show. You are. We are simply there to offer our skills and hardware as a platform for you to attain your goals.
